Can Hotels in Patong Wash Your Clothes? Laundry Options Explained

Short answer: most hotels in Patong will wash your clothes, but the price, the delay and the quality vary enormously. Here is what your options actually look like, and how to choose.

Option 1: the hotel laundry service

Almost every hotel and resort in Patong offers laundry, usually with a paper list in the wardrobe and a bag to fill. It is the most convenient option: you leave the bag, it comes back on a hanger.

The catch is the pricing model. Hotels charge per item, not per kilo. A t-shirt, a pair of shorts and a dress are three separate lines on the bill, and a week of beach clothes adds up fast. Larger hotels also outsource the work to an outside laundry anyway, then add their margin on top.

  • Best for: one shirt before a dinner, a suit, anything urgent.
  • Worst for: a full family bag after three days at the beach.

Option 2: a walk-in laundry shop

Patong has small laundry shops on almost every soi, charging by the kilo. Prices are low and the work is usually good. The trade-off is your time: you carry the bag there in the heat, you come back to collect it, and opening hours do not always match your plans. Shops close, run late, or are full during high season.

Option 3: a self-service laundromat

Coin laundromats are the cheapest per wash, and you keep full control over the machine settings. But you spend one to two hours of your holiday sitting next to a machine, and you still have to carry everything both ways.

Option 4: laundry pickup and delivery

This is the middle ground: per-kilo pricing like a laundry shop, without leaving your hotel. You leave the bag at reception, a rider collects it, and it comes back clean, folded and delivered to the same reception.

That is what we do at Laundry Patong: free pick-up and delivery in Patong, from 80 THB per kilo with a 5 kg minimum. Leave the bag before 3:00 PM and it is back the next day before 6:00 PM. Payment is in cash at your reception, or by bank transfer if you have a Thai bank account. We do not accept credit cards.

Questions worth asking before you hand over a bag

  • Is my laundry washed separately? Some cheap services mix several customers in one machine. Ask.
  • Per item or per kilo? This single question can multiply your bill by five.
  • When exactly does it come back? « Tomorrow » can mean 10 AM or 8 PM. Get a time.
  • Ironing included? Wash and fold, and wash and iron, are two different prices everywhere.
  • What about delicate items? Mention silk, linen, sportswear and anything that must not be tumble dried.

A simple rule for a one-week holiday

Use the hotel for one or two urgent pieces, and a per-kilo service for everything else. Most travellers send a bag mid-stay and another one the day before flying home, so they pack light and fly back with clean clothes.
